My Story

I feel lucky to say i have found three passions in my life…

I am making two of them part of my career. Movement and massage. I have always been fascinated by the intricacies of the body. I officially started studying my passion when I attended Keene State College in New Hampshire, and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science in 2012. From here, I became a Personal Trainer and taught group movement classes until I really figured out the path I wanted to take.

For four years ,I sat with the burning question of where I was going to take my passion and how I was going to turn it into a career I really wanted. I decided to go back to school, and attended The Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado in Denver, CO. I graduated at the end of 2016 with a whole new passion (massage), an extensive support system, and most importantly, the knowledge that I have a true talent.

There are a million different avenues one can take with a massage license. That’s what originally attracted me to it. I liked that I could continuously study and learn new information, or change the direction of the work I provided. I would never be bored! The decision I made to focus on recovery/athletic performance/relaxation, and pain relief/structure came from my own personal experience….In early 2014 I suddenly experienced intense pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. For about six years I desperately searched for answers to help me feel better. I was unable to sleep on my side, stand for long periods of time, wear cloths, walk, or exercise at all. It affected every area of my life. It was deeply depressing. I went from being an All American Field Hockey player, going on long road trips filled with climbing, hiking, and backcountry snowboarding…to spending most of my time on a couch or laying in bed. I was prescribed pain killers, muscle relaxers, anti-depressants, nerve blocks (most of which I never actually took), I saw an acupuncturist for a year and a half, I went on long intensively restrictive diets, and much more….some things seemed to work but nothing really took the pain away much, if at all. Then I started massage school. I noticed that Swedish/relaxing massage helped my pain more than anything else. I attribute the pain relief to feeling cared for by another human, and the power of down-regulating my nervous system so much, that I was able to start healing. Flash forward a couple more years and I started receiving structural bodywork to help align my posture to take pressure off of my joints, tendons and muscles. I received this bodywork for a little over a year and let me tell you, that pretty much did it for me. I am almost fully back to where I was pre-2014.

I believe in the power of relaxation massage and caring/providing healthy touch to all. I also believe in the power of structural bodywork and its ability to take people out of pain. I am dedicated to continuing to study techniques and improve my skills so I can be the best therapist I can be and, so I can help the most amount of people I can.

…My third passion in life is playing field hockey if you were wondering.
